About
The Morrigans were established in 2004 by Jenna (12er) and Bridget (Titch). The team’s name is inspired by The Morrigan, the goddess of battle and war in Irish mythology. It reflects our fighting spirit on the field and our Irish heritage in our hometown of Manhattan. Our early development was supported by the Irish American Society of Will County, our first sponsor and an important early believer in the team.
We compete in Division II and strongly believe that rugby is for everyone. While we are highly competitive on the pitch, we are just as known for our culture off the field where we are a close-knit family that welcomes everyone for who they are. We take our games seriously but make time to enjoy ourselves and celebrate together afterward. Our team looks forward to practices and games not only because we love rugby, but because it means time spent with the people who have become like family.
Together we grow, laugh, and create memories that last far beyond the game. That’s why our motto is
“’Til the day I die.”
